CITIC Metal Foreign Expert Mr. Marcos Stuart Honored the Chinese Government Friendship Award 2019
On the afternoon of September 30，Marcos Alexandre Stuart Nogueira, a foreign expert of CITIC Metal Group Limited (hereinafter referred to as CITIC Metal), was honored the Chinese Government Friendship Award 2019 at the Great Hall of the People. He was cordially received by State leaders including Li Keqiang, Han Zheng and Liu He and invited to attend the activities in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
Mr. Marcos Stuart is an internationally renowned expert at metallurgical materials. He successively acted as the CTO and senior technical consultant of CBMM, a long-standing partner of CITIC Metal, and is currently in charge of the application and popularization of niobium-bearing iron technology (particularly in long products) in China. Since 2007, he has been engaged as the deputy director and senior foreign consultant of CITIC-CBMM Microalloying Technology Center. As a senior consultant at CITIC-CBMM Microalloying Technology Center, he has vigorously advanced the introduction of the philosophy and technology about lightweight automobiles into China, organized 32 important conferences in China, invited over 100 Chinese experts to Euro Car Body and other platforms for exchanges and study, and led or participated in the compilation of six books in China. He’s been dedicated to supporting the development of iron and steel technologies in China. Regarding the major bottlenecks hindering development of materials used in automobiles, roads and bridges in China, he has driven the cooperation with Baowu, Ansteel, FAW, Dongfeng Motor and some other leading enterprises together with CITIC Metal and carried out 33 high-intensity niobium-bearing steel R&D projects; he has successively come to China for more than 30 times, and organized over 100 world-famous experts for technical exchanges and guidance in China. The steel types they developed have been widely applied with the annual output reaching one million tons. He attaches great importance to talent training, advocating and organizing the setup of CITIC-CBMM Niobium-bearing Steel Scholarship at Wuhan University of Science and Technology, and helping train over 500 doctors and masters through the CITIC-CBMM Niobium-bearing Steel Scholarship already established at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Northeastern University and Central Iron & Steel Research Institute, etc., most of whom have become technical backbone talents in the development and application of iron & steel products; he has worked to promote the international exchanges among the talents in the field of iron & steel materials in China, successively organizing over 300 persons for 20-plus academic exchanges and technical reports abroad, and helping one Chinese iron & steel material engineer complete his 1-year study under a cooperative training program at a famous American university.
The past four decades of cooperation between CITIC and CBMM has seen the springing up of a big number of foreign experts who have made outstanding contribution to the development of material technologies in China's iron & steel industry and its downstream industries. Mr. Marcos Stuart is a witness to, participant in and contributor to the friendship between China and Brazil, as well as the fourth foreign expert honored the Chinese Government Friendship Award at CITIC Metal. The award is not only his personal honor, but also the full recognition of the efforts that CITIC Metal has made for decades to advance the development of material technologies in Chinese iron & steel industry.
